Social Responsibility

Sustainability at Asahi - Taking action for a brighter tomorrow

We’ve brought together all sustainability activity across Oceania into one aligned framework and strategy.  From working with customers to teaming up with industry leaders, we’re turning everyday actions into real impact. We’re finding ways to reduce our impact on the planet, doing what’s right by our people and our community, and responsibly bringing daily enjoyment and connection to everyday moments in life with our products.

PLANET

Creating solutions to reduce our environmental impact across our value chain.

Climate change directly impacts how our beverages are made including water resources, ingredient availability and the production process. As a company that produces and distributes beverages, we recognise our role in contributing to greenhouse gas emissions and our responsibility to reduce them.

We're committed to reducing our Scope 1 & 2 GHG emissions by 70% by 2030 compared to a 2019 baseline year, and are proactively working with our suppliers and customers to achieve a 30% reduction in our Scope 3 GHG emissions by 2030.

We are also focused on responsibly managing the water we use, investing in water efficiency technology and continuous improvement initiatives to protect the long term health of our water sources.

We rely on primary and secondary packaging to protect and market our products – it’s also somewhere where we can make a real impact. We're investing in sustainable packaging and circularity to reduce the amount of packaging we put into the market, increasing the recycled content in our packaging, and increasing recyclability to reduce our costs and help mitigate our environmental impacts. That’s why we are investing in more sustainable packaging solutions, partnering with industry and government on initiatives to divert waste and improve recycling rates, and supporting the development of Australia’s circular economy.

PEOPLE

Doing what’s right by our people and our community

At Asahi, our commitment to a safe workplace is fundamental to what we do. Our business is our people. We're building a culture that values diversity, helps our people shine, and ensures everyone is safe and well to enjoy life everywhere, every day.  Our safety programs are supported and implemented through active health and safety committees at all major sites.

We’re proud of our long-standing connections within local communities. As an Asahi employee, you'll have access to volunteer leave to give back through our community partnerships program.

We recognise that where we source our raw ingredients from matters. That’s why we foster strong relationships and engage with our suppliers to support sustainable agricultural practices and ensure human rights risks are mitigated across our supply chains. Asahi has developed robust human rights and sustainable agriculture policies to ensure responsible sourcing practices are followed across our global supply chains.

PRODUCT

We play an important role in creating a safe, responsible drinking culture by supporting consumer choice and collaborating with industry to create safer, responsible drinking practices. Asahi Beverages is committed to developing new products to support consumers to moderate their drinking.

We understand consumers’ interest in the health and nutrition content of our non-alcoholic products. That’s why we continue to provide choices of beverages for all occasions and are reducing the sugar across our beverage portfolio.
